CEILING LEAKS IN HDB FLATS
Know who’s responsible for the repairs, according to Housing Board guidelines.
1. Within the block
Owners have responsibility in maintaining both the floor and ceiling slabs of their flats. So, for example, if it’s your ceiling that has an issue, you and your upstairs neighbour will have to share the costs of engaging a contractor.
2. At the topmost level
This leakage comes from the roof of the block, which is part of the common property maintained by the Town Council. Contact the Town Council to have them rectify the leak.
3. At the void deck
The void deck is also part of the common property maintained by the Town Council. The Town Council and the owner of the flat above are to jointly arrange for the repair and split the costs involved.
